Simple but fun sewing project

My husband and I exchanged anniversary gifts a few weeks ago (early) but I wanted to give him something on our anniversary, so I made him a very simple wallet with some Riley Blake Jeep fabric I had in my stash since he loves ALL things Jeep.

This tutorial was featured in Made Everyday with Dana’s new look book for her new fabric line Day Trip, which I love and certainly will have to buy some of.  As soon as I drooled over the look book I immediately saved the link to this cute tutorial by Alissa Jacobs which can be found here http://quiltish.blogspot.com/2010/05/tutorial-fathers-day-mens-wallet.html

So when you get a chance, take a look at Dana’s look book https://issuu.com/artgalleryfab/docs/day_trip_by_dana_willard .  You too will fall in LOVE with the fabric.  Also stop by her site, http://www.madeeveryday.com/ she has some great patterns and tutorials.  I have purchased a few and love them!

Have I mentioned how much I love the minikins?

I am OBSESSED with trying to get through each pouch in the minikins set by Sara at www.sewsweetness.com

This months focus pouch is the sidewinder. I can’t lie, I made one and it was an epic fail!  So bad I will not even take a picture of it. So I tried a different pouch and then went back and made a new sidewinder pouch. Much, much better!  Now note, I am still new (how long do I get to keep saying that???) and I’m using a simple Singer sewing machine. I have learned recently that can really be a challenge because the “throat” of the machine does not give much room for bulk when sewing bags. I guess I’ll have to start selling products so I can save up for a new industrial machine! Ha! Right. Between work and the 4 kids, 2 dogs, etc. I’m sure that will happen!

Here is my sidewinder pouch. This is for my Moo girl, she loves turquoise so I had to add her favorite color.

Sewing Swap!

I am participating in my first sewing swap. This was set up via Instagram using a set of patterns called Minikins designed by Sara over at www.sewsweetness.com. There are a lot of patterns and you can choose anyone you want. I decided to do the desktop cube (small and medium). I’m also adding a cute little eyeglass case I recently sewed as part of the Sew Sweetness cork club. I’m a little obsessed right now!

Here are the goodies:
